How to Detect the Presence of Rodents

Rodent droppings are a reliable sign that there is a pest in your home. Mice excrement is little, smooth, and pointy on the ends, whereas rat excrement is shiny black and 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long.

Another distinguishing characteristic to identify your rodent is chew marks. Smaller and “scratchier” scars typically indicate mice, while typical rat tooth marks are 1/8-inch long.
